Week 9: Expo

This week on Tuesday I had my school expo. Each class had a topic for the expo, we had to choose a topic on energy. I decided that I wanted to research on nuclear energy and then we were paired up in groups, I was paired with my three friends Fergus, Liam K and Byron. Each group had their own question. My group’s question was, what is nuclear energy and how does it work?

We had many weeks to prepare and we had to have an experiment, a model and a presentation. My group’s experiment was a solar powered boat made out of Lego, our model was supposed to make steam come out but it didn’t work. My group worked well, we had everything prepared, a model, an experiment and a presentation and we had many people coming to our exhibit.

At first, I didn’t know much about energy. Overall, I learnt many things about nuclear energy and the other sources of energy. I felt confident about my exhibit and I felt confident about showing my work to parents, teachers and students around the school. It was a great success and I think that many people enjoyed this year’s school expo and that everyone was happy with their work.

Term 3: Week 6

This week my my class read two books called Scary Night and The Stone Lion. The Stone Lion was a life lesson. Somewhere in your life you’ll get one opportunity to do one thing and when it happens you should go for it. We weren’t allowed to look at the pictures, so we had to draw what we thought they looked like. After that we had to make one certain picture of the story Scary Night by only using paper, paint and pastels.

We also had to read an article of our choice. There were three types of verbs, a doing verb, saying verb and a being/having verb. My article was called The Mighty Jaguar. The task was to find twenty verbs, make two complex sentences, find main ideas of the article and then put them onto a poster.

My class worked on particular parts of decimals such as rounding off decimals, reading decimals from hundreds to thousandths and ordering decimals. We had to do one work-sheet of decimals to prove that we know how to do those particular parts of decimals. I think rounding off decimals isn’t so easy . I learnt how to order decimals and how to round off decimals.

Week 5: Learning reflection

This week we had our second Hawks in Schools visit. We had Micheal the nutritionist, two Hawthorn player. Their names were Jed Anderson and Grant Birchall. Then we had fun football exercises such as goal kicking, chest marks and over-head marks, ways to evade people and hand-balling competition. There were others which helped run the activities. I learnt that we should have a healthy diet and drink lots of water.

Week 4: Learning reflection

This week I learnt how to put a decimal in a place value chart, how to write it in a fraction and how to tell if the decimal is smaller or bigger.

A leader of the Hawks in Schools Program came into my school. His name was Micheal Kelly, he showed us a video with the football players Jack Gunston and Angus Litherland. I learnt the five food groups (protein, grains, fruit, dairy and vegetables) ,what we should eat, how long we should exercise and how many hours we should sleep.

I also learnt that we should exercise for 1 hour, we should drink five glasses of water a day, eat 2 serves of fruits and eat five serves vegetables.

Week 3: Italian Day

This week it was the best because it was Italian Day, the best celebration in school, where we celebrate Italian Day. The theme to dress up was the Roman Empire, I dressed up as a regular person or plebeian in Italian. We did lots of activities like making puppets, playing bocce, sewing pouches and making mosaics. On the day we ate gelati or soft serve with sprinkles or sherbet and pizza. Two men came to our school, to perform a play. Their names were Mario and James, they were very funny and they asked for volunteers. I learnt how to make mosaics and that the Roman Empire was the most strongest empire.

Week 2: AFL Gala Day

Yesterday two men came to our school for AFL Gala day, their names were Shaun and Adam. They both started playing in local clubs, Shaun played for  Montrose and Adam played for Lilydale and Morulbark and played in the TAC cup. We did football activities such as bouncing the ball, kicking the football and learning how to handball, they told us techniques on bouncing, kicking and passing the ball. I learnt that when bouncing a ball you have to bounce it on an angle.

Week 1: What I Learnt

This week I learned lots. I learnt the formula for fraction of a collection. e.g: 3/4 of 24= (24÷4) x 3=18. Divide the total (24) by the denominator (4) then times it by the numerator, you have to do step by step, first i wasn’t very good at it. I also learnt that criminals can hack into your computer and steal your pin number, cancel your deliveries, make fake items online and scam you , then I discussed my concerns and benefits of the internet. Then we learnt to draw a 3D hand into an illusion by just drawing lines. If you do the exact steps you’ll see the illusion.

This is how you draw it.

Gray Wolf

Gray Wolves can have 3 colors of its fur, such as grizzled gray, black and white. They relate to shepherds and malamutes (which are dog breeds). They once nearly disappeared. Now it is estimated that 7,000 to 11,200 Gray Wolves are in Alaska, 3,700 in the great lakes region and 1,675 in the northern rocky mountains. Wolves are carnivores/meat eaters, they eat deer, goats, sheep and moose. Wolves hunt in packs of 8 to 7 wolves, packs include the mother, father and their pups. Wolves natural habitats are in tundras, woodlands, forests, grasslands, and deserts, mostly Gray Wolves are found in Alaska. Do you like the Gray Wolf?

Minecraft released in 2009 May the 17th created by Markus Persson, now Minecraft has more items to choose from and now you can play in other peoples worlds/servers. Millions of people have the game Minecraft such as me I think it’s fun, do you?

Super Smash Bros

Super Smash Bros is one of my favourite games. Super Smash Bros is a fighting game, where you fight until you knock the opponent out of the screen. There’s a variety of characters from different games that you can choose from. This game can be played up to 8 players and played single player or multi player. When you play on single player you battle a computer and you can also play a mode such as training. In multi player you either play online or with a friend.
